Unfortunately Matera is not in axis of the main Italian railway “FFSS” so that different bus companies link Matera to the main cities.
”MARINO” buses from Matera to Milan, Ancona, Bologna, Chianciano, Fiuggi, Naples, Novara, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Sassuolo and Urbino, as well as to some international cities.
“MAROZZI “ and “LISCIO” buses link Matera to Rome, Florence, Pisa e Siena twice per day.

Adriatic Coast: Motorway Bologna-Taranto - Exit Bari Nord. Follow the signs Altamura-Matera, on SS 99.
Tirrenian Coast: Salerno - Reggio Calabria - Exit Sicignano degli Alburni . Follow Potenza - Metaponto along SS 407 Basentana until you find signs to Matera.
